Answer:

*Improving grades

*Becoming a healthier and better person

*Improve study habit

Explanation:

My life has been so messy lately due to the coronavirus and I find it's been affecting my online school and personal life. There are many ways I can improve this, however.

Throughout this whole pandemic, I haven't been getting the proper sleep and I've barely been eating. This has affected my performance in sports and class. I feel so fatigued and find I never seem to have time for myself. To prevent this from continuing to happen I plan to make time to eat my meals and take breaks after each assignment. If I'm stuggling with homework, don't work on it late into the morning but sleep on it and work on it in the morning.

My grades have also gone down hill since the coronavirus started. I used to be an A student but since have been struggling to even pass my classes. I need to make a schedule and be more prepared. A planner would help me see what I need to get done. It would also help me complete assignements on time so that they aren't late.

One thing I could also improve is my study habits. I am a very lazy person and almost always get sidetracked. I'll be doing my work while listening to music and all of a sudden I'm jamming out, now doing homework. I need to pick a playlist and work on my assignments. When I finish something, then I can take a small snack break, then get back at it.

These are little examples but you need to put them together

acronyms and abbreviations are the symptoms of lazy speak?

Answers

Whether or not the use of acronyms and abbreviations is a symptom of laziness or understanding is circumstantial.

A person may use abbreviations and acronyms because he or she understands the meaning or just because they are lazy. Many acronyms and abbreviations are misleading because they mean different things to different people. For example, NBA is popularly known to mean "National Basketball Association". In Computing, it means "Network Behaviour Analysis", while in Australia, it means National Bank of Australia.

Because one acronym can mean different things to different people, there are rules that if followed resolves the issues of misinterpretation.

do a mental check to see if the target audience would understand the abbreviation is used in your presentation. If they won't, it's best to spell it out in full the first time it is used and about five more times above that. This applies to books and reports.Never use abbreviations if your literary work is fictional

In some cases, it may be okay to abbreviate. Such circumstances include but are not limited to:

When writing to close friendsWhen writing or presenting to people within the same discipline. For example marketing or Law;There is little risk when the abbreviation is well-known.

Answers

Answer:

The narrator's view changes in the sense that:

c) At first he sees it as beautiful, but his experiences take away the wonder of it.

Explanation:

In "Two Ways of Viewing the River," author Mark Twain explores the theme that experience and habit take the wonder off of things. At first, he is excited about the river, still capable of seeing it for its beauty and majesty. However, once he becomes a steamboat pilot, the river no longer has the power to amaze him. He now knows the river way too well - he has seen it too many times. He is no longer capable of appreciating its beauty, finding it boring, sometimes even ugly.

Voluntourism: An Opportunity Too Good to be True

A Speech to the Student Body of Evergreen High

[1] Picture this: It's Spring Break, and you fly off to some country where there's lush rainforests and beautiful, blue coastlines to explore. There's also people in need, so you decide to blend your vacation with volunteering. Volunteering as a tourist, or voluntourism, seems like a great way to explore new regions and help people at the same time. However, this "volunteer plus travel" experience can actually harm local communities. While many teens might view traveling and volunteering abroad as a worthwhile adventure, there are more genuine and effective ways to make a difference.

[2] Most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time. However, what if you found out the children you are "helping" are actually being kept in poor conditions so voluntourists will spend money to come to the local area? Dale Rolfe, a supporter of ethical voluntourism, explains the shocking reality that "Animal sanctuaries and orphanages are often manufactured for the voluntourist…encouraging a cycle of exploiting the very animals and children the volunteers are trying to help."

[3] Proponents of the "volunteer plus travel" experience also argue that traveling to new places builds character and is a valuable way to learn about different cultures. With voluntourism, however, participants often pursue experiences that are all about them. For example, they sign up to build a school for a gold star on their resume, but they have no real building skills and take jobs away from local construction workers (Schulten). Or, they arrive to teach English but instead take selfies with the locals. One world traveler and ethical voluntourist believes voluntourism "can perpetuate small minded views of the world by taking insulated, fake, and structured experiences and selling them as unabridged and eye opening" (Carlos). The voluntour experience is a mirage. The voluntourist's eyes are not opened to real life at the destination, and lasting change is not achieved.

[4] If you want a genuine experience where you can see a lasting impact, there are better options than voluntourism. You can volunteer in your local community. Give an hour every week to your town's animal rescue. Serve monthly dinners to the homeless. Be a reliable, positive influence on a child who needs a mentor. Studies show that volunteering and forming lasting relationships with those you help has a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. In fact, blood pressure is reduced, memory is improved, and rates of depression are reduced (Michaels).

[5] There is another reason to look into alternatives to voluntourism. Did you know the average "voluntour" travel package costs $3,400 (Rolfe)? Could that travel money be better spent? If the world's citizens are your passion, it could go to an international organization. If you care about education, your funds can be used to buy books for students in faraway lands. If you want villagers to have clean water, contribute funds to local efforts to dig wells. If you want to experience a different culture, travel to the country as a guest, and learn from the locals how you can best help them after you've returned home. But do not voluntour.

[6] In reality, there are better ways to make a difference. Voluntourism might appear to be an adventure that blends travel and helping others, but it does little except provide a costly, superficial experience that might actually do more harm than good. So, volunteer where you are most needed-at home, where you can stay to see the job through and form genuine, lasting relationships. Choose a beautiful coastline closer to home and send the travel money you saved to an international organization that will put it to good use. Whatever you do, don't turn someone else's hardship into your vacation.

How is a counter-argument used in an argumentative research essay?

Answers

Answer:

A counter-argument is used as backup to either: Explain how your own thought and reasoning are right, or to enlighten the writer and the readers about why you think the main argument is incorrect. In an argumentative essay, a counter-argument could even do both, explaining your belief and your reason to believe something is correct or incorrect.
