Which of the following IS NOT a country in which Calvinism spread to?
A. Holland
B. France
C. Scotland
D. England

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

A. Holland

Explanation:

While Lutheranism was largely confined to parts of Germany and to Scandinavia, Calvinism spread into England, Scotland, France, the Netherlands, the English-speaking colonies of North America, and parts of Germany and central Europe. This expansion began during Calvin’s lifetime and was encouraged by him. Religious refugees poured into Geneva, especially from France during the 1550s as the French government became increasingly intolerant but also from England, Scotland, Italy, and other parts of Europe into which Calvinism had spread. Calvin welcomed them, trained many of them as ministers, sent them back to their countries of origin to spread the Gospel, and then supported them with letters of encouragement and advice. Geneva thus became the centre of an international movement and a model for churches elsewhere. John Knox, the Calvinist leader of Scotland, described Geneva as “the most perfect school of Christ that ever was on the earth since the days of the Apostles.”

Calvinism was immediately popular and was appealing across geographic and social boundaries. In France it was attractive primarily to the nobility and the urban upper classes, in Germany it found adherents among both burghers and princes, and in England and the Netherlands it made converts in every social group. In the Anglo-Saxon world, Calvinist notions found embodiment in English Puritanism, whose ethos proved vastly influential in North America beginning in the 17th century. It seems likely, therefore, that Calvinism’s appeal was based on its ability to explain disorders of the age afflicting all classes and to provide comfort by its activism and doctrine.

This diagram shows the triangular trade that developed between Europe,
Africa, and the Americas. In which direction did most slaves travel?

A. From C to A
B. From B to A
C. From A to B
D. From A to C

Answers

The correct answer is A. From C to A.

Explanation

The map shows the Atlantic Ocean and part of the continents of America, Europe, and Africa. Each of the continents is referenced with a letter as follows: Europe with the letter B, America with the letter A and Africa with the letter C. In addition, the oceanic trade routes between the three continents are shown.

This commercial relationship between the three continents had a specific dynamic because each one played a fundamental role. Slaves were transported from Africa to the American colonies to work in crops and mines. The natural resources obtained in America were brought to Europe to be converted into objects such as clothing and jewelry. Later, some objects were taken to America to be sold in exchange for gold coins. According to the above, the correct answer is A. because the slaves were taken from Africa (letter C) to America (letter A).

Explanation:

In the question above, the white line that downslope indicates the demand

Since we are given the quantity as 24 while the price is $5

The downslope of the white line says that the quantity of goods demanded is high and the price of that commodity will decrease and vice versa ( That's the law of demand)

The black slope is upward indicating the supply

where the price is $5 and the quantity supplied is 24

Therefore the upward slope indicates that the higher the price, the higher the quantity of goods that are being supplied, and vice versa ( That's the law of supply )

Which of the following factors played the greatest role in creating the conditions Thomas Nast criticizes in the political cartoon The Union as It Was?

The repeal of the racist black codes by the Northern-dominated Congress following the Civil War

The unsuccessful congressional effort to impeach Andrew Johnson for his stance on civil rights

The Southern refusal to abandon notions of white supremacy following the Civil War

Radical Republicans' refusal to allow any former Confederate states to reenter the Union

Answers

Answer:

The Southern refusal to abandon notions of white supremacy following the Civil War

Explanation:

Thomas Nast made a political cartoon in 1874 that he named, "The Union as It Was" showed a drawing of the KKK and a member of the White League having a handshake atop a skull and bones of a black woman. It also showed a man that was huddled over the corpse of a child as a school burns nearby.

This cartoon was made to criticize the white supremacist attitude of the South after the Civil War.

Therefore, the factors that played the greatest role in creating the conditions that Thomas Nast criticizes in the political cartoon The Union as It Was was the Southern refusal to abandon notions of white supremacy following the Civil War.

Answers

Answer:

In every meaningful way, the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Empire were fundamentally different. On the most surface level, there is the obvious distinction between the dominant religions of the two groups. The Byzantines were Christian and the Islamic empires, whether the Umayyads, Abbasids, or Ottomans, were of course Muslim. Conflicts over land rights and other issues kept the two groups in opposition for many years. However, despite the conflicts, Byzantine and Islamic empires not only had similar cultural moments but also were viewed in similar ways by the people of Western Europe, who saw them both as outsiders.
