Answer:

The Game of My Life

Thump. Thump. Thump.

I was alone on the basketball court with thousands of eyes staring at me. The only sounds I could hear were the bouncing of the basketball and my breathing. The final outcome of the game came down to this one moment. How did I, a young girl afraid of being the center of attention, come to this moment?

Before last fall, I had never tried out for anything. I sat in the back in every class trying to avoid eye contact with my teachers, never speaking to my peers. However, my friend Alexis convinced me to join the team with her.

Now I was the focus of the entire school’s attention. In the last few seconds of the game we were down by two points, and I took a wild shot at the buzzer. An audible gasp came from the crowd as the player guarding me slapped my arm and the ball bounced off the rim.

I stood on the free-throw line. Hot sweat trickled down the side of my face. The basketball in my hand grew heavier as I lined up my shot. I glanced at the crowd and could hear them shuffle in their seats. I could smell the buttery popcorn in the concession stands. Blocking all this out, I closed my eyes, trying to focus my mind on these three free-throw shots.

The ball flew through the air, hitting the back of the rim with a thud and went in.

Lucky shot, I thought. Come on, Jasmine. You’ve got this.

As the referee passed the ball back to me, I smacked my lips. My mouth felt as dry as if I had swallowed sand on the beach.

“Jasmine, it’s just you, the ball, and the basket,” yelled my coach.

I took another deep breath and let the ball fly from my hand. Swish. Straight through the net.

As the third and final shot soared through the air, the crowd rose to its feet. Their cheers seemed as loud as the sound of a jet engine. My teammates rushed the court, surrounding me in their excitement.

While I’m still not comfortable with all of the attention, I learned that my fears were holding me back from some amazing experiences.

Greek and Egyptian societies were similar in many ways. The Egyptians and Greeks both had laves they owned since the poor could not afford slaves. Though, it seems that these great civilizations lived differently from one another. Despite their differences in lifestyles, one comparable attribute of Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt would be their religion. Both civilizations practiced a polytheistic religion which meant they believed in more than one god. Ancient Egypt was ruled by pharaohs. Pharaohs were at the highest level in Egyptian society and were considered close to the gods. Due to the location of these two places they experienced different natural factors and developed diverse lifestyles and forms of government. Even though the differences are great they inevitably have similarities such as religion and being great powers during their reign. Both societies' cultures have a great impact on us today as there is no denying that they accomplished numerous amount of things. For example, Greece experienced expansion overseas, technological improvements, an increase in democracy, and the creation of Greek dramas. can someone explain me the theme of animal farm by Goerge Orwell?

Answers

Answer:

The grand theme of Animal Farm has to do with the capacity for ordinary individuals to continue to believe in a revolution that has been utterly betrayed. Orwell attempts to reveal how those in power—Napoleon and his fellow pigs—p*rvert the democratic promise of the revolution.

hope its helps

Answer: Animal Farm by George Orwell has tons of themes that you can go into depth about. However, probably the most famous would be "The Corruption of Socialist Ideals in the Soviet Union" which is what the book is based on.

Animal Farm is most famous in the West as a stinging critique of the history and rhetoric of the Russian Revolution. Retelling the story of the emergence and development of Soviet communism in the form of an animal fable, Animal Farm allegorizes the rise to power of the dictator Joseph Stalin. In the novella, the overthrow of the human oppressor Mr. Jones by a democratic coalition of animals quickly gives way to the consolidation of power among the pigs. Much like the Soviet intelligentsia, the pigs establish themselves as the ruling class in the new society.

Stalin’s tyrannical rule and eventual abandonment of the founding principles of the Russian Revolution are represented by the pigs’ turn to violent government and the adoption of human traits and behaviors, the trappings of their original oppressors. Thus, the novella critiques the violence of the Stalinist regime against the human beings it ruled, and also points to Soviet communism’s violence against human logic, language, and ideals.
