Read the excerpt from The Building of Manhattan.

A temporary, small narrow-gauge track system was installed on each floor as it was needed. This enabled the material to be moved from the truck at ground level onto dump carts, raised by elevator to the designated floor, wheeled onto the track, and moved quickly to the exact spot needed. Turntables built into the track allowed the carts to be shifted about in any direction.

Which question can be answered only if an illustration accompanies the text?

What did turntables built into the track allow?
How were dump carts raised to designated floors?

Prompt: "She looked beautiful, it was her wedding day. Everything was ready for a wonderful occasion, only one thing, where was the groom? All of a sudden there was a bang at the door..."

(Only answer it if you know the answer or else your getting reported)

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

She looked beautiful, it was her wedding day. Everything was ready for a wonderful occasion, only one thing, where was the groom? All of a sudden there was a bang at the door... She startled, inhaling sharply, thoughts racing through her mind. It was probably her mother, maybe her sister, coming to let her know he had changed his mind and fled. Her imagination ran wild, picturing him at an airport, buying a last-minute ticket to God knows where, leaving her behind to face, all alone, the shame of having been left on her wedding day.

She finally opened the door, hands and legs shaking. It was indeed her mother, but there was something soothing about the expression on her face. He was running late, but he was on his way. Something had happened, a problem with the car, perhaps a flat tire. She inhaled again, deeply and steadily this time. She couldn’t help but laugh at her own desperation, at how quickly she had jumped to conclusions. Was this not the man she loved? The one she had chosen to spend the rest of her life with? Didn’t he deserve more trust than this? Her mother smiled gently. It was normal to be this nervous; and nervous people think in absurd ways. She laughed again.

The time finally came for her to walk down that beautifully ornamented aisle. She was still too nervous to look directly at anyone, but too happy to not sense their smiles, their eyes walking with her, slowly, toward him. Her groom reached out to hold her trembling hands, his own as shaky as hers, and kissed her sweetly on the left cheek. A brand new life was ahead of them. It would be a life of companionship, of growing old together, of caring more about the other than about the self.

- supply evidence while establishing an instructive tone.
- engage the reader, while establishing a respectful tone.

What's in a Name? Mucus is a great word, not only because it gives name to an important bodily function, but also because it is one of those words that simultaneously makes you feel grossed-out and giggly. Other words for th poprerfully important human-health tool include slime and phlegm. Slang words for mucus Include boogers and snot. All of these words have the same giggle-power, simply from the combination of consonant and vowels. By the way, mucus is an old word; it's been around since the mid-1600s and has roots back to Latin (mucere, to be moldy or musty) and Greek (myxa, mucus). While you may assume that words like snot and boogers are relatively new slang terms, they are not. Snot dates to 1560 and comes from an Old English word, gesnot, and has the same root as the word snout. The word booger is not quite as old but has been in use since the 1890s.

Explanation:

Answer:

In the beginning of the short story “The Treasure of Lemon Brown,” Greg Ridley was just a normal boy who wasn’t performing well at school, and feared being lectured by his father.

Greg didn’t want to face another lecture from his father about his grades, so he instead took a stroll outside, away from his apartment. Along the way, he found an old abandoned tenement and met a homeless person in rags named Lemon Brown. After Greg and Lemon get acquainted, they get attacked by thugs who want to steal Lemon’s treasure. After this major event, Lemon tells Greg about the story of his treasure and his son. He talks about how he used to sing the blues to feed his family. Then one day his wife died and his son went to go live with his wife's sister. He then says that his son went to war and then died holding a mouth fiddle. The fact that it meant something to his son made it Lemon’s treasure.

The thugs and the story of Lemon Brown moved Greg Ridley and made him realize the importance of his father and the love of family. While Greg walked back home, the idea of getting lectured by his father made him smile now.

By this time Steve has reached the group. He stands there defiantly close to them.

CHARLIE

Go ahead, Steve. What kind of "radio set" you workin' on? I never seen it. Neither has anyone else. Who you talk to on that radio set? And who talks to you?

What do the stage directions tell the reader about Steve’s response to the group’s accusations?

He is pretending to agree with the group.
He is frightened by the group’s anger.
He is not afraid to challenge the group.
He is nervous that the group knows the truth.

Answers

Answer:

He is not afraid to challenge the group.

Explanation:

Rod Sterling's "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street" is a science fiction story about a small town and its residents during an 'alien invasion'. The story ends with the aliens observing the residents 'fighting each other'.

In the given excerpt from Act II, the stage direction shows Steve "stand[ing] defiantly close to the others". The use of the word "defiantly" implies that he has no worries about what might happen. And considering that the group was approaching him about his "hours" spending working on a radio or something.

So, the word "defiantly" shows that Steve is not afraid to challenge the group and whatever they may ask about.

Answer:

he is not afraid to challenge the group

Explanation:when he acted brave it sound like he is not scared

Write a article in this topic :a good meal what makes a good meal ? Is it the people ,the place , the food-or all of these things how important is to eat out and try diffriet kinds of food from diffrent places

Answers

Answer:

Eating a variety of foods from the five major food groups provides a range of different nutrients to the body, promotes good health and can help reduce the risk of disease – as well as keeping your diet interesting with different flavours and textures! The venue in which food is eaten can affect food choice, particularly in terms of what foods are on offer. The availability of healthy food at home and 'away from home' increases the consumption of such foods. However, access to healthy food options is limited in many school/work enivorments.

Identify the level and nature of the diction: formal or colloquial; abstract or concrete. Also specify is a passage is written in a neoclassical poetic diction. Note that some passages may exemplify more than one kind of diction.

Answers

This question is related to “A Good Man is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor.

Answer and Explanation:

Diction is the term that refers to the choice and structuring of words in a text, with the objective of changing a language according to the objective intended by the author. In "A good man is hard to find", we can see that the author decided to use informal words, slang, colloquial expressions and a simpler and more direct language. Thus, we can conclude that the author used a colloquial diction.

This diction allows the author to create a more intimate and comfortable connection with the reader, since the text is less pretentious and more accessible to anyone who wishes to enter this language.

The text has no neoclassical poetic diction.
