Read the excerpt from Act 2 of The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.

58. CONTINUED 58.

By this time Steve has reached the group. He stands there defiantly close to them.

CHARLIE

Go ahead, Steve. What kind of "radio set" you workin' on? I never seen it. Neither has anyone else. Who you talk to on that radio set? And who talks to you?

What do the stage directions tell the reader about Steve’s response to the group’s accusations?

He is pretending to agree with the group.
He is frightened by the group’s anger.
He is not afraid to challenge the group.
He is nervous that the group knows the truth.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

He is not afraid to challenge the group.

Explanation:

Rod Sterling's "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street" is a science fiction story about a small town and its residents during an 'alien invasion'. The story ends with the aliens observing the residents 'fighting each other'.

In the given excerpt from Act II, the stage direction shows Steve "stand[ing] defiantly close to the others". The use of the word "defiantly" implies that he has no worries about what might happen. And considering that the group was approaching him about his "hours" spending working on a radio or something.

So, the word "defiantly" shows that Steve is not afraid to challenge the group and whatever they may ask about.

Answer 2

Answer:

he is not afraid to challenge the group

A pair of spectacles would add to her face she probably grew up poor and did something for herself that is why she wants girls to work hard in society.

Answers

Answer:

Did you walk the dog today? -- interrogative

Walk the dog before dinner.  -- imperative

I took the dog for a half-mile walk.  -- indicative

Explanation:

The interrogative mood is when the verb is used to ask questions. For example: Were you cooking when I called?

In the imperative mood, a verb expresses a command, a request, or even a suggestion in a more direct way. For example: Don't forget to clean your room.

The indicative mood is used to state facts, at least from the perspective of the one who is speaking. For example: Jane didn't talk to me yesterday.

(Only answer it if you know the answer or else your getting reported)

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

She looked beautiful, it was her wedding day. Everything was ready for a wonderful occasion, only one thing, where was the groom? All of a sudden there was a bang at the door... She startled, inhaling sharply, thoughts racing through her mind. It was probably her mother, maybe her sister, coming to let her know he had changed his mind and fled. Her imagination ran wild, picturing him at an airport, buying a last-minute ticket to God knows where, leaving her behind to face, all alone, the shame of having been left on her wedding day.

She finally opened the door, hands and legs shaking. It was indeed her mother, but there was something soothing about the expression on her face. He was running late, but he was on his way. Something had happened, a problem with the car, perhaps a flat tire. She inhaled again, deeply and steadily this time. She couldn’t help but laugh at her own desperation, at how quickly she had jumped to conclusions. Was this not the man she loved? The one she had chosen to spend the rest of her life with? Didn’t he deserve more trust than this? Her mother smiled gently. It was normal to be this nervous; and nervous people think in absurd ways. She laughed again.

The time finally came for her to walk down that beautifully ornamented aisle. She was still too nervous to look directly at anyone, but too happy to not sense their smiles, their eyes walking with her, slowly, toward him. Her groom reached out to hold her trembling hands, his own as shaky as hers, and kissed her sweetly on the left cheek. A brand new life was ahead of them. It would be a life of companionship, of growing old together, of caring more about the other than about the self.

Write a article in this topic :a good meal what makes a good meal ? Is it the people ,the place , the food-or all of these things how important is to eat out and try diffriet kinds of food from diffrent places

Answers

Answer:

Eating a variety of foods from the five major food groups provides a range of different nutrients to the body, promotes good health and can help reduce the risk of disease – as well as keeping your diet interesting with different flavours and textures! The venue in which food is eaten can affect food choice, particularly in terms of what foods are on offer. The availability of healthy food at home and 'away from home' increases the consumption of such foods. However, access to healthy food options is limited in many school/work enivorments.

WRITE A THESIS STATEMENT

The best way to get people invested in the
library is to show them the joy of reading.
For that reason, the library should hold a
book sale. People could donate books that
they no longer want, and the librarians
could find books that the library no longer
needs. Volunteers would need to sort the
books into categories and arrange them in
an inviting way, like at a bookstore. Books
should be inexpensive so people will buy
more of them maybe fifty cents for
paperbacks and two dollars for hardcover
books. A book sale would appeal to people
of all ages, from little kids to older people. There should also be a table where people can sign up for library cards. that way, if visitors do not find any books they want at the sale they can come back to the library.

Answers

Answer:

So a thesis statement talks about the main idea of the writing. Some thesis statements for this paragraph could be:

A library gives joy to all through the help of its patrons it could be even better.

If people support what brings them joy they will bring joy to all, that is why a library must be supported by those who love it, because everyone needs the opportunity to read.

Library's are the best places to discover new authors so if everyone pitches in and does their part new authors will be discovered left and right.
